Dinesh D'Souza right here, up close and personal

Widely-touted, widely read, conservative author Dinesh D’Souza has recently confirmed his attendance at this Saturday’s American Dream Summit in Pewaukee. The details and on-line registration for the day-long, Americans for Prosperity-sponsored seminar are here. The cost is an amazing $29, and time is running out (only 4 days left) to sign up.

A former White House policy analyst under Ronald Reagan, D’Souza graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Dartmouth College in 1983 and has served fellowships at the American Enterprise Institute and The Hoover Institute, as well as serving as a policy analyst in the Reagan White House.

D’Souza’s Illiberal Education, published in 1991, is often cited as the first mention of the phenomenon – and pitalls - of political correctness. D’Souza has authored 9 books, including Ronald Reagan: How an Ordinary Man Became an Extraordinary Leader, What’s So Great About America, What’s So Great About Christianity and his most recent (and possibly most controversial), The Enemy at Home: The Cultural Left and Its Responsibility for 9/11.

I caught an interesting tidbit of D’Souza’s personal life on Wikipedia –

Prior to his marriage in 1992, D'Souza had relationships with two well-known female conservatives, Laura Ingraham, a nationally-syndicated radio commentator to whom he was engaged but never married, and best-selling conservative author and commentator Ann Coulter.

    I didn’t know that. Interesting, I suppose....

D’Souza is a powerful speaker - sure to ignite your mind and soul. He’ll be the last speaker of the morning, and will be available for book signings.

Also among the speakers at Saturday’s summit are Steve Moore of the Wall Street Journal, Todd Berry of the Wisconsin Taxpayers Alliance, U.S. Congressmen Paul Ryan and James Sensenbrenner, A.G. J.B. Van Hollen, Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker, Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke, State Senator Scott Fitzgerald, State Representative Leah Vukmir, WISN and WIBA radio host Vicki McKenna and Journal Sentinel columnist Patrick McIlheran.

    COMMENTS

I wonder if you or any of your readers caught another powerful speaker who came to the Fox Valley at the invitation of the UWFox Scholars Series -- Kathy Kelly. She spoke at Fox, Lawrence, and the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship. And there was no charge to hear her, not even an "amazing $29." (Hmmmm ... why is it ...?) She'd probably be characterized as a liberal because she opposes war, and has been active in the peace movement.

You also forgot to mention that his nickname is "Distorts D'Newsa."

Yup, knew you'd cover that very effective liberal argument, John. Thanks! JE

Well Jim, I suppose Kathy Kelly, renowned peace activist, would be considered a political liberal; either way, her presentation I'm sure was well crafted and perhaps inspirational. Something it would have been informing to attend. The $29 I mention is for a day-long "summit," and covers the cost of a continental breakfast, lunch and dinner as well. All for the cause of staying informed....

Makes as much sense as blaming Bush/Cheney.
    Indeed. I love it... JE
