Thank you Lord, for our freedoms
At a recent holiday gathering, a number of folks spoke to a cozy group of political types. It was fun to hear thoughts about the last election and the upcoming couple of years. Party folks spoke, as did a retiring official, a newly elected representative, and even an aspiring candidate gathering signatures (good for him!).
Attorney General-elect JB Van Hollen changed the tone gently, silencing the group a bit. He reflected on the tremendous opportunities our Lord has given us in this, “a Christian nation.” Yes, JB was celebrating his own “miracle” at the polls. (As he said “The Lord works in mysterious ways!”) But he was also celebrating the tremendous freedoms we enjoy every day in this great country.
He closed with a very brief reflection on the election, and then brought folks back to the reason for the season. Yes, he said we have our political stars, but as well, “We have a bright shining star in our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Merry, merry Christmas! I wish you a day and a season and a year full of relaxation and reflection, precious freedom, and most specially, joy, love and blessings.
