Hmmm. Where's Gov. Doyle in the news?

Seems as though a couple of women governors have the inside track on Doyle and any Obama administration action. Nestled in amongst a star-studded team of experienced pols and successful businessmen, Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano is one of 12 who form President-elect Obama’s Administration Transition Team. Wikipedia says “she is widely considered as a potential member of Obama’s cabinet, likely as either Attorney General or Homeland Security Secretary.”

Talk about star-studded, Obama’s Economic Transition Team is loaded to the gills, with the likes of William Daley, William Donaldson, Richard Parsons, Robert Reich, Robert Rubin, Larry Summers and Paul Volcker. Wow. And Michigan governor Jennifer Granholm. Detroit News lists possible appointments for Granholm as Energy Secretray or a federal judgeship.

Unlike Napolitano, who (per Wikipedia) offered her support for Obama January 11, 2008, Granholm supported Senator Clinton until the New York Senator conceded the nomination. Our own Governor Doyle beat them both – his endorsement was announced by the Obama campaign January 5, 2008.

So where’s Governor Doyle in all of this transition business? Is it his gender that’s keeping him out of Obama’s inner circle at the moment? Mark Rahmlow suggests our governor wants “an opportunity to leave his mark on state politics” and won’t make himself available for an Obama administration.

It would seem if asked, Doyle could share his expertise on a transition team of one ilk or another and still not enter the new, revved up administration - leaving the governor free to “leave his mark” (oh my…) on state politics. But others have gotten the nod first. Now just why would that be?

    COMMENTS

Some commentators have said already that they'd like to see Lieutenant Governor Lawton take over.

Talk was that Doyle could be made an ambassador to Ireland where he could make his mark on * that * (instead of here.)

I see this as an opportunity for change if indeed it comes about.
