Fox Valley Initiative to host health care forum

What effect will the health care reform legislation have on the quality of your health care? That is the question that the Fox Valley Initiative hopes to answer Tuesday night when they host a panel discussion on health care reform. The panel will include local medical professionals and others familiar with the industry.

“We have heard from the politicians in Washington, now it’s time to hear from the people in our own backyard that know a thing or two about how this legislation may affect everyone,” says Jim Steineke, founder of the Fox Valley Initiative.

Steineke feels that it is important for people to understand that health care as we know it will be fundamentally changed if the current legislation passes. He says that while everyone understands that some reforms are needed, not everyone agrees on how to accomplish it. “The purpose of the forum is for people to get information and ask questions. We will not be focusing solely on the problems, but will also be talking about common sense solutions,” says Steineke.

An invitation was also extended to Congressman Steve Kagen to attend the event, but his appearance has not yet been confirmed. Steineke hopes that he will be there. “I invited the Congressman to attend and now that we know he will be in town, I am hopeful that we will see him there. I think he would add a valuable voice to the discussion and I believe it would be a great opportunity for him to meet with the people,” Steineke said. He also went on to say that Congressman Kagen’s office is aware of the event and that it has been promised that “someone from their office will be there”.

The event will be held at 6pm on Tuesday evening at the Grand Meridian, 2621 N. Oneida Street in Appleton. It is free and open to the public.
