Why is Doyle being a jerk?
(The title… a query from a friend…) So why won’t Doyle sign the pledge? The pledge – thought up by Wausau’s Everest High School kids asking elected officials to commit to resigning if their convicted of drunken driving.
Well, Doyle has this thing about pledges.
He’s allergic to them. Hate to be committed you know. Unintended consequences and all of that. Much too simple an approach to life, or something like that. What kind of a guy won’t sign a pledge saying he’ll resign if he’s caught?
The group expected Doyle to sign, but instead his office released a statement saying that everyone knows Doyle doesn't drink and drive, but he thinks democracy works best when elected officials are held accountable by voters.
And a committed group of high school kids is chopped liver?
Give me a break.
