    Jim Bunning is my hero

Ok. So he's weird and vituperative and uncooperative. Senator Bunning said it all for me yesterday.
If we can't find $10 billion to pay for something that we all support, we will never pay for anything on the floor of this U.S. Senate.
All this white-haired, long-time-ago baseball player is asking is that Congress prioritize - find $10 billion somewhere to not spend. Is that so tough? Bunning deserves all the credit in the world for making an issue, however stubbornly, of spending, of the deficit, of the growing humongous debt. Where does it stop?

Read the whole thing. Lots of whining in this article and any other you’ll read.

    COMMENTS

"Already his opposition has resulted in the furlough of 2,000 workers at the Department of Transportation. If it continues, millions of unemployed workers could lose their health insurance and benefits."

"Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid fired back, pointing out that Bunning voted against passing pay-go rules requiring the Senate to offset costs of legislation with revenue raising provisions or tax cuts. "

"Bunning, said Reid, also raised no objections to passing the Bush tax cuts and authorizing wars in Afghanistan and Iraq without paying for the provisions."
    (satire on)
Yeah, I can see why you think he's a hero. (satire off)

Ok Dean. How do you propose to pay for the $10B bill? Is this how you operate your household - just go out and spend anything you want to spend? When are you forced to prioritize expenditures? Do you go out and get a loan? Do you always have it figured out how you're going to pay it back - or do you figure your kids and grandkids will pay it back?

It's about time Americans looked to good old fashioned discipline and courage, to having to make choices - yes, tough ones - when times get tough.

Let's see... how about the Federal government spends now during recession, printing money and devaluing the dollar a bit then tax it back when the economy is moving again. I would then prefer a tax on fossil fuel and reduction in war budget.
