    Progressives thrilled over Thompson's decision

The headline at Open Left last night blared "The real news today: Democrats will control White House and Senate until at least January 3rd, 2013."

Oh my. These guys - nationwide - were quaking in their boots.
The short-term, 24-hour political news cycle is focusing on tax day and tea parties. However, no matter the focus on conservative protests, the big news today is that Democrats will control the White House until at least January 3rd, 2013.

This news came today when Tommy Thompson announced he would not challenge Russ Feingold for Senate in Wisconsin. Some polling, mainly conducted by right-wing source, had shown that Thompson would have made the race extremely competitive. He might have even started out with a lead, in fact. However, now that Thompson is not running, it will be extremely difficult for the little-known Republicans, who trail Feingold by huge margins, to pull off the upset.
Oh my again. Read the rest. It's good. Informative.

Actually, were it not for our corrupt campaign finance system Tommy would have been a great Senator. But remember when it took us three years to get smoking out of day care centers, all while Tommy enjoyed $160,000 and three foreign trips paid by Philip Morris?

Lest we forget Thompson was a part of the Republican administration that spent us into oblivion. I never heard him speak out against the Bush spending strategies. Tommy's motivation would be to enhance his retirement benefits which by now should safely make him a millionaire with full benefits without working another day paid for by us with on value added from his labors. Jeeze!

    Wonder who paid Tommy off?

As a conservative who might be described by liberals as an "anti-progressive," I am thrilled over Thompson's decision. I am elated, in fact. AMEN!

I MUCH prefer not having to justify my vote with "the lesser of two evils."
