Kagen press releases abound
It must be campaign time. Blogger Paul Socha picked up on a letter to the editor by former 8th District Congressional candidate Kerry Thomas. Socha and Thomas note the hypocrisy right off – and fellow northeastern Wisconsinite Brad VanLanen advances the meme:
So Congressman Kagen is trying to convince voters that he’s fiscally responsible.
Steve Kagen writes, “Being fiscally responsible must begin somewhere, so let it start with me.”
While you're still on the floor laughing at that one, he’s also trying convince 8th District residents he votes in their best interest.
In his original press release, Steve Kagen claims “When voting for any legislation, I only have the best interests of my constituents in mind.”
If you believe either of those statements I’ll sell you some ocean front property in Arizona.
Kagen press releases are coming hot and heavy these days.
Promoting firefighters, motherhood and apple pie always works wonders (June 21).
DEPERE, WI- Today, Congressman Steve Kagen, M.D. joined DePere Fire Chief Robert Kiser and firefighters at the DePere Fire Station to promote fire safety as summer officially begins. The event also highlighted vital new equipment that the fire station was able to purchase thanks to a recent federal grant.
“The grant we received greatly improves the safety of the fire fighters and emergency service providers who are truly our first line of protection,” said Chief Kiser. “To protect our community, we must first protect ourselves with quality equipment. Thanks to Congressman Kagen’s continued support of the Assistance to Firefighters Grant, we were able to replace critical old and worn out equipment.”
In 2010 alone, Congressman Kagen has assisted fifteen different fire departments across Northeast Wisconsin, including DePere Fire and Rescue, with grants to help them keep our communities safe. These grants are timely as we head into the summer season when fireworks, barbequing and dry forests contribute to a greater threat for fires.
“I applaud the professionals standing up here with me today and the many volunteer fire fighters as well,” said Dr. Kagen standing among a group of fire fighters. “Today is about partnership between the federal government and local professionals. By working together, we can keep our Northeast Wisconsin communities safe for all of us.”
Oh brother. And then there’s working hard to create jobs. Of course. (June 16).
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Steve Kagen, M.D. is working hard to create the jobs we need. Today, the House approved a Kagen sponsored amendment to the Small Business Jobs and Credit Act (H.R. 5297), providing more opportunities for small businesses to access credit so they can expand their businesses and create new higher-wage jobs in the private sector.
“Access to credit is the medicine we need now to heal our economy," said Dr. Kagen. “Privately owned small businesses are the real economic engines of our economy, and they will soon be able to gain access to credit, allowing them to create the jobs we need to work our way back into prosperity.”
The medicine we need. Oh geez.
Today’s news brings several suggestions of the medicine America needs. Probably better reading (and better advice) than prescriptions emanating from Dr. Kagen’s campaign season press releases.

COMMENTS
Let's tell banks and financial institutions in general to stop worrying about whether their depositors money will wisp away with these risky loans; let's make sure anyone who wants to borrow money to start a business gets it. Let's ignore the risks. After all, we can always back them up by printing more money, or taxing people to death. You see? Now THAT'S fiscal responsibility.
How does one give this doctor a taste of his own "medicine?"
