Walker violates the 11th Commandment – and the 12th.

Walker violates the 11th Commandment – and the 12th.

“Paid for by Friends of Scott Walker, John Hiller, Treasurer.” Who was it that was sending this stuff that ended up in my mailbox? One of those nutty left-wing special interest groups?

Nope. “Paid for by Friends of Scott Walker.”

“Why we can’t trust Mark Neumann.
Mark Neumann says he’s against big government spending.
“But in Congress, Neumann voted for one of the largest transportation bills in history…”
“Mark Neumann’s $9 billion in pork-barrel spending!...including funding for the infamous ‘bridge to Nowhere’ and a highway in Canada.” And then the worst! – comparing Mark Neumann to Nancy Pelosi. Oh my. I guess I’m supposed to be trembling.

I don’t know what bill the Walker campaign is talking about (they do cite Roll Call vote 192 HR 2400 5/22/98, Mark Neumann Aye, Nancy Pelosi, Aye) – but assuredly, the bill is complex, contained thousands of projects and became law as the result of many different votes. The charge misses its mark – and comes off as a desperate move on the part of the Walker campaign.

Tom Sladek, in commenting on one of my pieces mid-June said the 11th commandment is often a “ploy to suggest the challenger should simply sit idle.” So I said ok, let’s go with a 12th commandment:

  • Campaign like the dickens
  • Campaign truthfully, respectfully
  • The minute the primary is over, everybody get on the winner’s bus and campaign like the dickens once again.
  • Commandment 12(2) was violated – at best, the postcard is a stretch of a claim. Are voters that ignorant? Perhaps 12(3) is at risk. And for what? Is the Walker camp worried?

Hope we don’t get anymore of this trash – from either camp.

Is it really a "stretch" when Neumann himself admits that it's true?

Mark Neumann has run a sleazy campaign, so whatever Walker throws at him is fine with me. Since April, Neumann ran the most negative ads in this campaign, he lied about the Republican Party not letting him into the convention, and he lied about Scott Walker's track record in Milwaukee County. In fact, when asked on the radio, "Has Scott Walker done a good job" Neumann wouldn't say yes.

Now Neumann is carpet bombing the state with commercials, done with money out of his own pocket, acting like he's above all the politics.

He refers to Walker as an 18 year career politician, fine, but if Neumann had won his race in 1998 he'd still be Senator and a career politician himself.

So maybe Walker is nervous, Neumann is dumping A LOT of cash here at the end.

One problem with your 12 commandment, Neumann has run such a disgusting campaign that if he does win he'll have a hard time getting grass roots support. Most of us grassroots think he's been a jerk.

It's the 9th Commandment that forbids bearing false witness against your neighbor. Or your primary opponent.
