WDC and Ziegler. I'm tired of it.
I’m getting tired of Mike McCabe’s constant sorry whining about the Ziegler case. McCabe’s Wisconsin Democracy Campaign has been whining since its sister progressive activists at One Wisconsin Now covertly dug into Ziegler’s rulings while on the bench in Washington County.
These guys cried foul (last March) and demanded a hearing by the State Judicial Commission. All right, already. The hearing’s done, the ruling is in. And now the ruling’s not tough enough. And not only that, because of the “light tap on the wrist” received by Ziegler, the rest of the world of Wisconsin judges is going to blatantly violate ethics codes. Give me a break.
These guys have been non-stop. First the “light tap” whining article linked above Then a few days later, McCabe goes into his quote-the-famous-from-history routine. And this time it wasn’t just political history, it was Christian history as well (Luke 12:48).
And then, a couple days later once again, Mike laments the unprecedented nature of Supreme Court justices disciplining one of their own. Yes, it will be tough. Be assured, these brilliant men and women are up to it.
I made a pre-election case (a rather good one, I thought – even as I look back at it) that McCabe and One Wisconsin Now should let it rest, already. Let the Judicial Commission do its thing. Just what they’ve now done. Justice Ziegler had nothing to hide. The Judicial Commission carefully scoured her court cases (I’m assuming – did they look at all 25,000+ of them?) and issued a ruling. A reprimand.
No Mike, it’s not giving up her first-born as you demanded. And it’s not even that suspension you keep insisting on. Let the process go, for crying out loud.
Let’s await the review of the Judicial Conduct Panel, and then look to the Supreme Court to do their thing (acting on the recommendations forwarded to it, in effect, disciplining Ziegler). The justices will, be assured, rise to the occasion. Unlike McCabe, Justice Ziegler seems gracious under fire. Get caught up on your sleep Mike. Play in the traffic or take a run around the block. Settle down, my friend. You’re way too nice of a guy to get apoplectic.
P.S.: Luke 12:48 holds Judge Ziegler to a high standard. “But the one who does not know and does things deserving punishment will be beaten with few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.” Would some turn to Luke 6:37 as well? “Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.”
COMMENTS
I was told by a lawyer-friend of mine when the campaign started that Annette Ziegler was a crook. She is a disgrace to the justice system and to this great state, and she should step down. Mike McCabe should be commended for informing the voters and good citizens of Wisconsin.
